I LOVE GLITTER! I can't help it, there's something magical about seeing the sparkles of tiny glitter flakes!
Today's DIY is how to glitter up your champagne/wine bottles ready for an epic party! It's super easy to do, and looks super sparkly!
You will need: Your bottles, glitter, PVA glue, sponge, clear acrylic spray (Not pictured), sheet of paper.
Grab your PVA glue and dab a bit onto the sponge, it's much easier with a sponge than a paintbrush and won't leave big lines of glue. You can wash the sponge after to use again on another project. (I cut a standard kitchen sponge up into four pieces as it's easier to use when it's smaller)
Using the sponge, very thinly apply a layer of PVA glue to the parts of the bottle you want covered. Make sure it is a thin layer, rather than thick, as when your glitter is on top you don't want it to slide down the bottle.
Simply grab your glitter, and sprinkle over the glue. I always do my sprinkling over a sheet of paper so that I can pour the excess back into the pot.
Keep sprinkling until all your glue is covered. Don't be shy with the glitter! I like to pour quite a bit on as it helps extra weight of the glitter helps the layer underneath to stick to the glue.
Gently stand your bottles upright and the excess glitter will fall off. Pour the excess back into your glitter pot for another craft project. Next, you have to wait for the glue to dry, I like to leave mine overnight.
The last step is to spray your bottle with a good coat of clear acrylic spray. This is what will stop your glitter falling off when you pick up the bottle to open it! Make sure you spray all your glitter with clear acrylic, you can do a couple of thin layers rather than one thick layer.
Then you're done! Simply chill your champagne and admire the glitter!
I would love to see what glitter colours you have chosen for your bottles! If you've had a go at this DIY send me some pics: email@example.com
